About Us
The Physio for Women practice is based in Halifax, West Yorkshire and is run by Jane Appleyard, a Chartered State Registered Physiotherapist, with a particular interest in women's health.
Jane qualified in 1982 and has combined NHS work alongside private practice initially specialising in musculoskeletal problems and sports injuries.
Over the last 7 years she has developed specialist skills in the treatment of women's health problems. She is currently employed as Continence Specialist Physiotherapist for Kirklees Primary Care Trust and runs a private practice exclusively treating women.
She is a member of professional specialist interest groups: The Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Women's Health and Chartered Physiotherapists Promoting Continence.
Her recent post graduate training has focused on urogynaecology and she is an expert on the physiotherapy treatment for conditions such as incontinence, prolapse, pelvic floor dysfunction and pelvic pain.
Her rehabilitation programmes focus on empowering women aiming to reduce symptoms and improve their quality of life. She often uses modified Pilates Exercises combined with pelvic floor education to achieve this goal.
Jane has been married for 22 years and has 2 teenage children. Her main hobby is walking and she completed the Playtex Moon Walk with her sister and daughter last year to raise £1000 for breast cancer charities.
